Protocols

Welcome

Thank you for entrusting the care of your pet to Blair Street Veterinary Hospital. This details our Terms and Conditions. Some aspects of these Terms and Conditions may not be relevant to you so please ask for further explanation or clarification if required.

Consultations

Consulations are on a walk-in basis only. The Vet is available between 10am - 12 noon and 4pm - 6pm on weekdays; and 9am - 12 noon on Saturdays. While we endeavour to see you and your pet as quickly as possible, sometimes slight delays do occur. Each pet and medical problem is different and some may need extra time.

Emergencies will always take priority and will be seen as soon as possible, however, it always helps if you telephone to give us a heads-up before travelling in.

Fees & Discounts

All fees and medication charges include GST. The Vet is happy to give an estimate on any procedure that may be required, but please bear in mind that estimates can only be approximate. Pets are living beings and not all illnesses follow a conventional course.

We offer a 10% discount to Seniors Card, Health Care Card and Pension Card holders. This discount is not recouped and is our way of helping you take good care of your pets.

Payments

Accounts are due for settlement at the end of consultation, the discharge of the patient, or upon collection of medications. EFTPOS facilities are available.

Inability to Pay

If, for any reason, you are unable to settle your account as specified, we ask that you discuss the matter with a staff member BEFORE your consultation.

Pet Health Insurance

Blair Street Veterinary Hospital strongly recommends insuring your pet against unexpected illness or accidents. There are many insurance companies that specialise in animal health insurance and brochures are available at our hospital. Please be aware that it is your responsibility to settle any accounts and then claim the rebate from your insurance company.

Presciption Policy

Repeat prescription medications can only be issued upon approval by the Veterinarian. Depending on each individual case, sometimes your pet may need to come to the Hospital for a recheck before any further medications are prescribed. Please phone ahead to request medications so that these can be approved and prepared to avoid waiting or inconvenience.
